We specialise in providing advice to help you maximise the return from antiques, collections or house contents that you wish to sell, clients frequently tell us that they are grateful for our help at times which can often be stressful and emotional. We deal efficiently with problems that can seem insurmountable, especially relevant if you, a relative or a dear friend has to consider the dispersal of all or part of the contents of a family home. This may be due to retirement planning, removal into residential care or bereavement, whatever the circumstance we sensitively help ease the process.
As with many businesses the antiques and collectable market is influenced by trends and the economy, consequently values and demand can fluctuate from one season to the next. With this in mind our advice is literally… “Not to throw anything out until it’s been checked out!” Surprising value can often be discovered in the most unlikely areas, we can identify these to help you increase any potential return.
This service is always individually tailored to your needs and if appropriate we can purchase full contents outright. We are happy to work with you to maximise value or to advise on the most efficient method of disposal, coordinating all relevant collections if appropriate. We are also able to work with your agents should you live at distance or be unavailable for any reason. In circumstances where there is little of interest or value a charge for removal may apply, you would be clearly advised of this in advance if relevant. Properties can be left partially furnished and ‘set’ for presentation to market if required, even if completely empty we always leave homes tidy and presentable upon completion.
We are always interested in purchasing good quality antique, vintage or decorative items and can often provide better realistic offers than many auction estimates. Whether you are interested in selling a single item, a collection of goods or have a full house contents to deal with…simply get in touch for an informal chat.
Working directly with clients and customers is one of the most satisfying aspects of being in the Antiques trade and why much of our retail activity is through selected fairs. The only regular fair we attend is on the first Sunday of every month, staged by Elliotts Fairs in the Pennine village of Mytholmroyd, West Yorkshire. Our interesting display of vintage and antique items can also often be found at other selected fairs around the North West and at special events such as the Historic House Car Boot sales and Themed Days at stunning venues such as Leighton Hall in Cumbria, organised by The Red Cross. Regular updates of events we’re attending are posted on Facebook.
We continue to enjoy retailing through our outlet at Holden Wood Antiques Centre (Unit 30) in the Rossendale Valley. The emphasis here being on Country and Vintage items with a useful perspective together with interesting decorative objects. If you are looking for something specific please get in touch and we’ll do our best to help.
Wills And Legacy Planning
If you’re in the process of making a Will it might be worth thinking about some of the things you’ve acquired over the years. Do you want to continue enjoying them at home, specifying items for individuals later or are you looking at the idea of disposal before your Will needs to be implemented? You can control what happens before your will is referred to and funds could be available for you to enjoy now or added to your legacy, this can have the benefit of avoiding disagreements between those close to you at a time which might be emotional. Family items may traditionally be passed from one generation to another but it’s often useful to have a valuation enabling you to decide on how best to manage the rest of your estate.
A retirement plan can often include the idea of ‘down-sizing’ or ‘de-cluttering’. We can help you decide what might have value before you construct your will so that you can leave ‘appropriate’ legacies for the people you care about. Our clients are often concerned about what would happen to everything and who might have deal with it, the guidance we offer could provide additional peace of mind as we are able to help you plan things in advance and at a pace to suit your needs.
Using our network of specialist dealers and experts combined with a wealth of experience, Blackstone Antiques can help you choose the best way forward. Your legacy can be based on sound advice, knowledge of the current market and an informed insight into future trends. You are welcome to get in touch for a friendly conversation without any obligation, please also take a few moments to look at the ‘what clients say’ section of the website…we look forward to meeting you.
